Obituary for Verna Ruth West (Brantley)

Verna Ruth Brantley West was born on May 9, 1938 to N.A. Brantley and Claudine Tolliver-Brantley in Indianola, Mississippi.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was a teacher in Mississippi and Virginia and worked for civil service in New York where she meet her loving husband, Chuck. She dedicated her life to God and her family.

Verna is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Charles “Chuck” West, daughter Desiree, sisters Frances, Alberta Gloria, sister-in-law Margeret and Nieces and nephews Hadore, Greg, Harold, Dennis, Clifford, Tori, Otis Jr., Judy, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James, Cleophas, sisters: Myrtle, Josephine, Nephews: Stephen and Roland III.

Verna traveled with her husband to Europe, Japan and various States in the United States. She loved shopping and enjoyed meeting people and learning their culture and customs. While in Japan she started a class on making Kimikome dolls and became a very accomplished doll maker. Verna will be sorely missed by her family. May she rest in peace.

Visitation will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM Wednesday June 15, 20016 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Reception after the services and burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
