Obituary for Anita Joanne Stubblebine

Anita “Nita” Stubblebine, retired elementary school teacher, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2021, at the age of 76 after recently being diagnosed with cancer. She spent the last week of her life visiting with family and friends, demonstrating incredible strength, courage, and wisdom.
Nita was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1945 to Kenneth and Erma Sween, and moved to Colorado Springs in 1953. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in teaching, she travelled to Europe and Russia on a study tour, which gave her a perspective of world cultures. Teaching young children was her passion. As a 2nd grade teacher at Falcon Elementary School for 25 years, she made an impact over a thousand children.
As a single mother for many years, she always put her children first, supporting them in their sports and passions, and constantly worrying about their well-being. She made friends everywhere she went and loved visiting with people. Her smile and laughter were contagious, and she was most often thinking about the needs of others.
She is survived by her sons Kipp and Dane, stepchildren Joanna and Todd, nine grandchildren, and three sisters Kathy, Susan and Carol. Her family and many friends will miss her dearly.
