Obituary for Charles William Kennedy
Charles W. Kennedy, Age 85, of Colorado Springs, passed away April 5, 2022, in his home with his family.
He was born on July 12, 1936, in Sutherland, Nebraska, the son of Charles W. and Grace L. (Neff) Kennedy. He attended Fremont High School and graduated in 1954.
Charles married Shirley G. Krog, on June 20, 1959, in West Point, Nebraska. The couple moved to Colorado in 1971 where they found their home in Colorado Springs.
Charles was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Good Sam's in the 1990's. He liked bowling and soft ball with his church members in his younger days.
Chalres loved being a part of this grandchildren's lives and watching them grow up. He was always there for his children.
Charles started out in construction when he first moved to Colorado, then worked for Kwick Way and Farm Crest. Life then took him to the maintenance field with AMI Industries, then, finally retiring with Master Weavers of Colorato Springs in 2020.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley Kennedy;five sons, Michael Sr. and Bobbie Depue of Fremont, Nebraska, Todd and Georgette Kennedy of Colorado Springs, Jeff Kennedy of Colorado Springs, and Michael Kennedy of Colorado Springs; daughter, Tanya Jellison of Indiana; 11 grandchildren of Colorado, Virginia, Indiana and Nebraska; fifteen great-granchildren of Texas and Nebraksa; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and William Metzler of Lincoln, Nebraska and one niece and two nephews of Fremont, Nebraska.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Grace L. Kennedy; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and George Smith; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kennedy, and a nephew.
A memorial service followed by a reception, will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5265 N. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
A memorial service in Nebraska will be held later this year when Charles will be laid to rest with friends and family attending.
