Obituary for Dale Kenneth Roberts

Dale Kenneth Roberts went to Heaven on January 4, 2022. He was born June 3, 1964 in Cortez, Colorado and grew up moving back and forth between Blanding, Utah and the nearby Navajo reservation. Many glorious days were spent on the “Rez” herding sheep, rolling sheep pies, digging for wild onions, swimming in the rain-filled potholes, riding horses, eating mutton stew and frybread, and running barefoot in the sand.
Dale was a private person but yet never met a stranger and was quick to strike up conversations with others everywhere he went. He was incredibly proud of his Navajo (Diné) heritage and instilled an appreciation of it in his daughters who grew up seeing him sing and drum at powwows. He loved being part of his drum group, Medicine Shield.
He also loved his family intensely. Dale and his beautiful girls often went camping and fishing. He taught his girls to bait their lines and get their catch from the hooks and onto the chain fish stringer quickly and seamlessly. Laughing with them when Julia and Madisen managed to throw a nearly full fish stringer into the lake when they forgot to anchor it before throwing it back out into the lake. The girls all have wonderful memories of their Dad – Dale taking Julia to skate parks, Dale teaching Madisen to drive, Dale heading to the shooting range with Olivia. Also, how he would give them flowers and candy for Valentine’s Day. Dale would also sneak around with them, having them help him grab lunch and flowers, and to search for the perfect picture frame for the poem he would write and give to Jennifer on her birthday (which was also their anniversary) every year.
Dale enjoyed his trips back home to visit family and friends in Utah where he would get his mutton fix and catch up with everyone. He was also passionate about his beloved Green Bay Packers, fantasy football, paying softball (he was a great pitcher), solving Rubik’s Cubes, and riding his Harley down the highway for miles with the sun shining on his face and the wind blowing though his hair.
Dale was also a devout man of God and thoroughly enjoyed his Faith Community and the friends and relationships he made there. He loved having his family there to share in worship with him.
These and many other remembrances will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Dale’s influence in our lives will never fade.
He is survived by wife Jennifer Roberts; daughters Julia (Keenan), Madisen, and Olivia Roberts; mother Sylvia Roberts, father Kenneth Roberts Sr.; aunt Daisy Cowboy; siblings Kenneth Roberts Jr., Darrell Roberts, Farley (Francine) Roberts, Sylvian Ragsdale, Sue Ann (Tony) Done; nieces and nephews Kenneth Roberts III, Hailee, Ashlee, Payton and Sage Roberts, Mina, Aden (Kim), and Tomane Ragsdale, Talishia (Dave) Trani, Alexsis James, Lennon and Anthony Done; grandchildren Diego, Kael, Keegan and McKenna Trani; and many other loving relatives and in-laws.
