Obituary for David Leon Rathbun

David Leon Rathbun, 72, of Colorado Springe Colorado, passed away on October 30, 2021, from Covid-19 complications. He was born to Ethan and Ruth Rathbun on November 1, 1948, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

David is survived by his wife Brenda Fitzjarrell, his four sons David Benjamin, John, Paul, Adam, grandsons, David Austin, Ethan, Jonathan Gabriel, Sierra, Devin, Daisy, Ryan, Alex, Stephen, Adam Nathaniel, Corban, Levi, Ezekiel, Eleanor, and great grandson, David Elijah. David is also survived by his brothers Gene, Jim, sisters Sue, June, and Jan. David is preceded in death by his parents, Ethan and Ruth.

David graduated from Palmer High School in 1966 and attended the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs before joining the US Air Force in 1968, where he served as a telecom system control specialist sergeant in Austin Texas, until he was honorably discharged in 1972. David moved back to Colorado Springs in 1973 and joined Al Fitzjarrell, his father-in-law, in F&E Construction. David started his own construction and contracting company, Rathbun Home Construction, in 1980. David attended Central Christian Church, where he served as an elder and teacher. David worked with Pioneer Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea in 1993 and returned to his business afterward. David was a member of the American Legion and loved to do motorcycle rides with Post 5 in Colorado Springs.

Services will be held at Academy Christian Church at 2002 Pikes Peak Ave in Colorado Springs on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 1 PM.
