David Anthony Tafoya passed away October 15, 2020 at the age of 72. David was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Ismael Tafoya and Nancy Aragon.

David spent his formative years in Pueblo, Colorado, graduating from South High School. He enlisted in the United States Army. David was a veteran of the Vietnam and Iraq War, Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Staff Sergeant, with the following decorations of note: 3 overseas service bars, Rifle M16 Marksman, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Silver Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, 3 Bronze Service Stars, Army Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. His last duty assignment was with the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade 2nd Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. David retired from his military career to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1991 where he worked at the Air Force Academy for several contracting companies responsible for inventory, logistics, and deliveries.

He was preceded in death by his father Ismael Tafoya. He is survived by his daughter, Christine A. Tafoya; son, Ismael C. Tafoya; mother, Nancy Aragon; and brothers, Michael and Leroy Tafoya.

David was a kind, sweet man, who never complained, even at the end with stage 4 cancer. He loved the mountains, movies, comics, all the corny jokes and anything punny. David’s remains will be cremated per his request. Military Services, with honors, will be held with attendance limited to close family due to the current pandemic.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any tributes be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of SSG David A. Tafoya. More info online: https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
