Obituary for Donna Jean Johnson (Simpson)

Donna Jean Johnson beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, peacefully died on August 25th at Memorial Central Hospital surrounded by love.

Donna is survived by her three children, Debbie (Dennis), Kenny (Sam) and Carol (Jerry), her eight grandchildren Mike (Kristi), Chad, Candice (Jason), Ryan (Rachael), Melissa (Carey), Josh (Amanda) and Shane (Leah). Donna is also the great grandmother to twenty-three children and a great-great grandmother to three children.

Donna was born in Nebraska on June 8th, 1930, to Henry and Eulala Simpson. She grew up in the small town of Burwell, Nebraska. She shared many fond memories of her life growing up in Burwell with her 11 brothers and sisters. Donna met her beloved husband of 73 years, Herman Frank Johnson, on a blind date on October 31, 1949. They were married on December 9, 1949.

Donna was a housewife who took great pride in her home and family. Family was her greatest love in life. She created many lasting memories which will never be forgotten. But more than anything Donna was an awesome mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the life of every party whether it was for one or many. Her laughter was infectious. Second to her family, was her love for football. Never a Saturday or Sunday went by without cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers (Go Big Red) or the Denver Broncos.

There will forever be a void in our lives. We will forever miss your infectious smile and the laughter that filled the room when you were here. We will cherish your memory until we are all together again. We love you.
A visitation and viewing for Donna will be held at 2 pm on Monday, August 29th, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado.
