She has three grandchildren, Samantha Warriner, Larisa (Jones) Symoens and Iliana Jones.
Donna attended public schools in small towns in Nebraska. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and sought to become a medical missionary to China. She received her nurses training at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, studied Chinese at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. She worked as an Emergency Room nurse at University Hospital in Seattle, where she met her husband, who was an ambulance driver.
They and their two children moved to Colorado Springs in 1970, where her husband taught school and Donna was a nurse in several different hospitals and nursing homes before going to work for Dr. Robert E. Winans, D.O. where she was chief administrative nurse until her retirement.
Throughout her life, Donna was a devout Christian who generously supported multiple Christian
churches and charities. She was a member at Central United Methodist Church at the time of her death. One could find her either teaching a Sunday school class or participating in any church function. After church her favorite activities were lunch with friends and a good chat, putting puzzles together, watching basketball and walking the dog.
Donna lived a long, independent life full of traveling adventures. She always had an important and positive impact on all who encountered her. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
