Obituary for Florene M. "Flo" Finley
Flo was born to Jerome and Louise Bender in Humphrey, Nebraska on November 25, 1929, and passed away on March 21, 2022.
She met her husband, Dan, in Humphrey. It was love at first sight for both and they married on March 31, 1951. They were soulmates for the next 53 years until Dan’s death in 2004. Their union produced four children - Kathy (Dick) Menard, Dan Jr. (Kim) Finley, Betsy Finley, and Pat (Cele) Finley.
Her husband and children were her life. She was a kind and loving mother who excelled at making life’s hurts go away. Her passion was cooking, and her fried chicken will never be duplicated, though her children have tried. She will also be remembered as one who would always make you feel welcome in her home. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A vigil will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 6pm at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 8755 Scarborough Dr., Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 2pm at St. Gabriel with burial taking place on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 9am at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
