Obituary for Gary Grove

Gary Edward Grove,82, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away November 12, 2022 peacefully in his sleep.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas son to his late parents Paul and Genevieve “Ginny” Grove. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grove, his daughters, Emily and Becca Grove and his grandchildren Bodhi, Archer and Xyla Sroka-Grove. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Glass, her husband Mike Glass and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Gary graduated from Chaplin Kapun Memorial High School in Wichita, Kansas and continued his education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration. After a brief time in the Army, Gary met his wife Mary and after marrying in Wichita, moved to Topeka, Kansas and then to Houston, Texas where they welcomed their two daughters. Gary then transferred to St. Louis, Missouri and lived with his family for ten years, finally settling down in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was proud of being a Kansas State Wildcat and a Green Bay Packer fan. Along with his love for golf, road trips and driving around town was one of his favorite past times while listening to talk radio, jazz and big band music. He was a self taught apologist and an avid student of the Catholic Faith. He completed four years of study to obtain his Certification for completing the Denver Catholic Biblical School. He and Mary were involved in Marriage Encounter and Crisillo where he made many life long friends. One of his greatest natural talents was that of being a singer, great dancer and taught both of his daughters how to dance in their kitchen.

Those who knew Gary will remember him for his kindness, quick wit and humor.

The Memorial will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917.10am Rosary and Chaplet, 11am Memorial Mass with luncheon to follow.
