John Yates 3/31/1933 - 11/20/2022

John Noble Yates of Monument, Colorado passed away on November 20, 2022. He was born in Aurora, Illinois to Howard N. Yates, and Dorothy Baker Yates. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1941 where Yates graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1951, and went on to graduate with a business degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally Kraemer on June 15, 1955. In 1963, he started his career in life insurance with Connecticut General in Denver, CO. In 1968, he then moved his family to Colorado Springs, then to Monument in 1970. His insurance career spanned almost 60 years, where he worked for CIGNA, The New England, and Ohio National. He acquired his Chartered Financial Consultant, (CHFC), his Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and his Master of Financial Services (MSFS). He was also a long-time member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. Yates was an avid skier, fisherman and biker. He was always on the move seeking out his next adventure. His zest for life and indominable spirit will be so missed. His passion was skiing learning as a kid on Pikes Peak, patrolling for Vail, Winter Park and A-Basin, then skiing with his family and friends into his 70's. He also was a devoted Bronco fan, a long time season ticket holder and always the skeptic with his infamous battle cry, "that's it that's the game," still echo's through the house. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kautz, his son, David Yates, his grandchildren, Bryant Kautz, Travis Kautz, Garrett Kautz, Maxwell Yates and Gabrielle Yates, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sally Kraemer Yates, son, Stephen Yates, and sister, Ruth Bloom. His Christian faith was his predominant moving force in his life. He unselfishly gave his time and talents to various Christian organizations, among them, Young Life, Stephen Ministries, First Presbyterian Church, Gideons, and Prison Fellowship. As we celebrate his life, we also celebrate him coming home to his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and dancing on pain-free feet with his beautiful wife, Sally.
