Obituary for Jose Valdemar Gallegos

José V. Gallegos, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27th, 2021. He was born in Servilleta, New Mexico on July 28th, 1934. José was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. José served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from May 1st, 1952 – July 27th, 1956. After the service he worked in construction; he was a hard worker. He retired from civil service at the Air Force Academy in 2000 at the age of 65.

After retiring, his pass time was going to the bingo halls and gambling in Cripple Creek, Black Hawk or New Mexico. He enjoyed Ranchera music, watching Westerns and watching the Denver Broncos lose. Our father was a hard strict man yet very caring in so many ways. He was preceded in death by his mother, Simodosea and father, Antonio; brother, José (Canuto); sisters, Adela Geiss and Velma Southhall; children: José V., Robert and Valjean.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Maria (Concha), of which they had 7 children: Maria Del Rosario Archuleta (Donny), Veronica J. Gallegos, Valdemar Gallegos, Leticia C. Gibson (Gerald), Adrian R. Gallegos (Monique), Crestina S. Delgado (Armando), Sheena B. Payan (Benjamin) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters, Christina Gallegos, Louise Maestas; and daughters: Cathy, Seya, and Corina.

Our father will be greatly missed.
