Obituary for Joseph B. "JB" Black

Joseph B. Black was born May 2, 1933, in Benton, Louisiana. Joseph was known by the name "JB" and graduated from Bossier Parish Training School. Afterward, he went on to serve in the United States Army.

JB married Henrietta Ayers and together they raised three children; Michell, Cherie and Joseph. JB took pride in being a provider and loving father. He also worked for the Post Office for 39 years, gaining leadership roles such as, Union Steward and Liaison. He also was a carpenter contributing to the construction of the Air Force Academy.

JB was blessed with a green thumb, cultivating a beautiful, thriving garden year after year. He also took pride in his appearance, often wearing the best garments with the hat to match, while smelling great!
In addition to his many accomplishments, he was an amazing cook and absolutely loved cooking for his family. He would refer to his food as, "tail bone trembling."

He was a patriarchal family figure who had a 60 year marriage, passing on a lineage consisting of a host of grandchildren; Joyce, Andre, Michael, James III, Tomeka (Michelle) and Janae, Jade, Joslynn (Joseph), 8 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

JB went to Glory, February 8, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He is preceded in death by; Emma and Joe Black (Mother & Father), Margaret Delios Tousiant Black (first wife), Cherry Black, Mattie Robinson, Effie Stroud, Grady Black, John L. Black (brothers& sisters).

His memory will forever be chrished by the many who loved him.
