Lowell Jurgen Punihaole, 73, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on Monday, April 18, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 15, 1948, in Munich Germany.
Lowell served his country with distinction by joining the US Army right out of high school. He served two tours in Vietnam and was involved in every conflict up to and including Desert Storm. He ultimately rose to the rank of Sergeant Major before his retirement in 1996. He continued to support the US Troops by working as a government contractor in Kuwait until he retired in 2018.
He is survived by his wife Dina Punihaole; his children, Donna M. Diaz-Meyer, Michael W. Punihaole, Deanna L Punihaole-Edie, Marc A. Punihaole, and Nicole Unger; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Herman M. Punihaole; sister, Rita Punihaole, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy A. Punihaole; his parents, Herman and Karen Punihaole; his brother, Michael Punihaole; and his sisters, Deborah Punihaole, Christina Punihaole, and Monika Punihaole.
A Celebration of Life will begin with a visitation at 10:00 am on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 and burial with full military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, concluding with a reception at Evergreen Funeral Home.
