Obituary for Mable Ruth Brown

Mrs. Mable Ruth Brown (née Rogers) was born on May 30, 1935 in Anson County, North Carolina to John Gordon Rogers and Gladys W. Rogers. She passed away on November 2, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mable grew up in Marshville, North Carolina, the eldest child and only girl amongst five younger brothers. She married her husband of 65 years, Ernest Brown and created a family of four children.

Mable was a devoted Air Force wife and protector of the home, supporting her husband 's career while raising their children. Their family lived in multiple places including North Carolina, South Dakota, Guam, Nebraska, and Colorado Springs where she and her husband would eventually retire.

Mable was a mother first who embraced the role of grandmother effortlessly. She was a true matriarch with excellent culinary skills and an innate ability to galvanize multiple generations of her family. Mable was a talented seamstress with stylish taste, a skilled quilter, and enjoyed bowling, gardening and catching up with her friends and family from all over the country. She was especially fond of her monthly get-togethers with the Ladies that Lunch. Mable loved her home and hosted family and friends with an open door.

Mable was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and her son Kenneth Brown. She is survived by three of four children: Ernest Gordon Brown, Marvin Brown, and Valeria Brown all residing in Colorado Springs. In addition, Mable has 7 grandchildren: Roger, Vanessa, Larla, Collis, Khalill, N’Handi and Mahalia; 3 great grandchildren: Aria, Savannah, and Akoya. She is also survived by her brothers Johnny, Roy and Joe Rogers and their children.

A stalwart and self-sufficient woman, loved and admired by so many, especially for her words of wisdom often sought out by those who needed it. Mable was a beautiful soul with a life well lived. She will be so deeply missed and never forgotten by the friends she made around the world.

Please join us in celebrating her life Tuesday, November 23, 2021. The viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home with a service following at 11:00 a.m. Mable will be laid to rest with her husband at 1:00 p.m. at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
