Obituary for Maria Luciana "Lucy" Madrid
Lucy Madrid was born in La Garita, Colorado on January 5, 1941. She completed high school in Del Norte, Colorado. She married to Robert D. Gallegos on February 13 ,1960. They had four children before his passing on June 9, 1987. She later married Donald Madrid on August 21, 1993, and her family grew before Don passed away on April 23, 2019.
Lucy worked at Current for 25 years, before retiring in 2003. She was known for her sense of peace and joy. While considered a private person, she was loved by everyone she met. She loved her family and loved to see it grow. She had a generous heart and a loving spirit. She impacted everyone she came in contact with. Her hobbies included reading books, watching sports with family (especially the Denver Broncos), which was more about family time than the game. Through the very end she brought her family closer together.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Toby and Ernestine Baca; her brother’s and sister’s: Toby, LeRoy and Jake Baca, Valerie Atencio, Pricilla Atencio, Jeannie and Anthony Valle, Gilbert Martinez.
She is survived by her sister: Henrietta Martinez; her sister- in- law: Phyllis Baca; brother-in-law: Leroy Atencio; her children: Robby and Carmen Gallegos, Nancy Gallegos, Janice and Dale McLemore, Ben and Brandee Gallegos; her grandchildren: Robby and Carmen – Adonis Gallegos, Armando Gallegos, Tylena Gallegos, William Lynch; Nancy – Racine and Jesse Priest, Rachael Benavidez, Chester Cassi, Tara Medina, TJ Barrow.Janice and Dale – Cameron and Meghan Lucero, Jordan and Devon Grant.
