Obituary for Mark Alan Bussa
Mark Alan Bussa was born on July 31, 1953 in Estherville, Iowa. He was the son of Alvin E. and Maxine A. (Sisson) Bussa. He lived in Armstrong and Buffalo Center, Iowa. In the 8th grade he moved to Windom, Minnesota where he attended Windom Area High School and was involved in the school choir, holding lead roles in school plays and was a member of the football team. Mark was also active in the choir and youth group at church. Mark graduated high school in 1971 and then attended Bethel College where he played football under his high school coach, Chub Reynolds.
Mark and Linda started dating their senior year of high school. He asked her out on a date in junior high but because he was already shaving and seemed too mature she turned him down. They were married on June 24, 1972. They lived in St. Paul, Minnesota where he attended the University of Minnesota and worked with special needs kids. They moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where Mark worked for a Service Master licensee under Linda's dad. He later bought his own franchise in Worthington, Minnesota where he worked in sales and production and won various awards. Their four children were born in Worthington, Minnesota. In 1984, after 10 years, he and his family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he bought two Service Master franchises. In 1999, Mark and Linda moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. He worked for Comprehensive Painting, he was a salesman for Terminex, and went on to start his own business as a handyman and worked with The London Group and others.
Throughout Mark's life he served his church body in various capacities. He served as a deacon, usher, Awana leader, and Senior High youth leader. Mark also sang duets with Linda in church and for weddings. He was on the worship team playing guitar and vocals. Mark loved music of all kinds. He began playing guitar in high school. He played several other instruments by ear.
Mark was a people person. He would strike up conversations with strangers, anywhere he went. Often people shared their life story with him. Mark had a servants heart and was a hard worker. Mark was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed his family and rarely missed any events the kids or grandkids participated in. Mark and Linda enjoyed camping, fishing, biking and kayaking together. Mark enjoyed riding his motor cycle. Mark and Linda would have been married 48 years this June.
At the end of March, Mark was infected with Covid-19 virus. He was sick at home for 12 days before going to the hospital where he was treated in the Intensive Care Unit for respiratory failure. After 18 days of fighting, his heart failed. Mark went home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2020. He was proceeded in death by his father, Alvin and grandchildren Faith, Brycen, Jackson and Nehemiah and others through miscarriage. Mark is survived by his wife Linda and their four children: Travis and Susan Bussa of Brandon, SD; Alicia and Roy Taggart of Liberty Hill, TX; Bryce Bussa of Colorado Springs, CO; and Carrie and Eric Isola of Colorado Springs, CO. Mark is survived by his 12 grandchildren: Taylor, Kristian, Kegan, Aaliyah, Trevin, Eliana, Aundrina, Kaden, Noah, Gunner, Isabella and Gideon. He is also survived by his mother Maxine Bussa of Windom, MN; and three brothers, Jonathan, Brad and Paul.
