Martha Eleanor McClelland, 93, of Colorado Springs passed away August 3, 2019, at Popa’s House in Black Forest. Previously, she resided at Village at Homewood Point in Colorado Springs where she acquired many friendships and enjoyed playing bingo.

Eleanor loved family gatherings and celebrating special occasions. She was also an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Nuggets.

Eleanor was born June 10, 1926, in Colorado Springs to the late Ray and Coy (Speak) Cummings. She was a graduate of Falcon High School, where she was known for making the winning basket in the State Basketball Tournament in 1941.

After school, she married James McClelland on April 21, 1946, in Colorado Springs and started a dairy on the McClelland ranch seven miles west of Calhan. In 1952, they moved to Colorado Springs where she worked for the telephone company. In 1959, they moved back to the ranch where they resumed the dairy business. They sold the dairy and moved back to Colorado Springs in 1984.

Eleanor is survived by her three sons, Martin (Estella Pacheco) of Pueblo, Darrell (Linda Ishmael) of Falcon, and Shane (Robin Bevans) of Colorado Springs. She has six grandchildren; Tami (Troy) Gavin of Pueblo, Jason McClelland of Pueblo, Tina (Ed) Glaser of Calhan, Michelle (Chris) Selle of Meeker, Taylor (Kirstain) McClelland of Colorado Springs, and Jordan (Heather) McClelland of Oklahoma City. Eleanor has fourteen great-grandchildren: Brittani and Bella McClelland; Ty and Dylan Gavin; Eddie, Logan, and Patrick Glaser; Ainsley and Adison Selle; Emmett McClelland; and Brayden, Braysen, Westyn and Raegan McClelland. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Ruth.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Living Word Community Church in Calhan with Pastor Rick Cofer officiating. A special thanks goes to the church for providing lunch immediately following the service. Cremation will be handled by Evergreen Funeral Home, and Eleanor’s ashes will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank Abode Hospice and Popa’s House for their outstanding care of Eleanor for the past 2 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Living Word Community Church, PO Box 144, Calhan, CO 80808.
