Obituary for Marvin Grant Barbour

Marvin passed away at his home in Colorado Springs on March 23rd at the age of 83 from kidney failure.

Marvin was born January 18, 1938 to Marvin B. and Verna Lee Barbour on the family farm near Griggs, Oklahoma. The family moved to their farm near Paonia, Colorado in 1953. He graduated in 1956 from Hotchkiss High School where he was President of the senior class.

He completed college in 1 ½ years studying Engineering. In 1958, he joined #9 Operating Engineers and later owned his own construction company. In 1960, he served in the Army Engineers, stationed at Fort Ord, California and in France. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Marvin enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing in many parades and when visiting Shriner Hospitals.

Marvin is survived by a son Roger (Tina) of Portland, Tennessee; a daughter, Melissa Barbour of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons, Zeke and Zane; and two brothers, J. Norvell (Glenda) of Canon City, Colorado and James Thomas (Pat) of Calhan, Colorado.
