Mary Louise Reid was born on July 14, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the second of five children born to William B. and Cleo (Urquhart) Reid. She departed this life on July 21, 2020 at the age of 90.

She gave her life to the Lord as a child and was later baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mary grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Schenley High School in 1948. She then attended The Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing, which was affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated in 1952.

Our beloved Mary was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into the United States Air Force Nurse Corp in 1954. During her 26 years in the United States Air Force, she was assigned to 11 bases, including three overseas assignments, England, France, and Italy. She was also stationed at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mary retired in 1980 as Chief of Nursing Services from the USAF Hospital, Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a member of The Society of Air Force Nurses.

Reading, solving crossword puzzles, volunteering at the museum, spending time with her family and attending services at Radiant Church with her sister, Nancy, were some of the things she enjoyed the most.
Mary is preceded in death by her brother William “Lindy” Reid and sister, Nancy Lee Young. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers Robert B. Reid (Lois) of Irvington, New Jersey, and David Reid of Monument, Colorado, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
