Obituary for Mary Ellen Slayter (Simpson)
Mary was born on December 10, 1947 in Hampton Arkansas. She was the daughter of William Bruce Simpson and Ethel Marie Simpson. Mary worked many years as a legal secretary and retired from Colorado Springs Utilities after 30 years with the City of Colorado Springs. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Jane Nalley, Georgia Brown, Marilyn Johnson, Linda Simpson, Joyce Smith; brother, James Simpson and infant brother, Lewis Berry Simpson.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald Slayter; two sons, Timothy Slayter and Michael (Caroline) Slayter; grandsons Jade Slayter and Twain Slayter; one granddaughter Ashley (Connor Rapp) Slayter of Aurora, Colorado; brother, John (Evelyn) Simpson of Taylor, Arkansas; sister, Kathy Pennington of Simsboro, Louisiana; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10AM Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1409 Palmer Park Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 followed by inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
