Norval D. Miller, Jr. was a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs.

“D” - as he was known to everyone - was born on September 30, 1929 to Norval D. Sr., and Dorothy Mildred (Luke) Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. Miller (Hall); his parents, and his brother-in-law, Frank Silverson.

D is survived by his sister, Sharon Silverson of Tularosa, New Mexico; His sons, Robert (Gena) Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; Kenneth (Debra) Miller of Laporte, CO; and Mark Miller of Carson City, NV. He is also survived by his grandsons Kelly (Melissa) Miller, Steven Miller, William Miller, granddaughters Katrina Miller, Laura Taylor and Maggie Miller, nephews Steven and Ron Silverson. D had 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He spent his childhood in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1947. He played trombone in the high school band and played baseball and football.

He married Betty L. Hall on September 29, 1950. They were married for 45 years until Betty passed away February 8, 1995.

D was an accountant for his entire working life. Occasionally he worked as a bartender at Nemith’s El Tejon and Cecil’s Lounge. In the early 1960’s, he owned and operated The Old Corral Night Club on East Platte Ave.

His favorite pastime by far was fishing for trout in the headwaters of the Rio Grande river and surrounding streams around Creede, Colorado. D started going there with his father, uncle, and family friends in the late 1930’s. Over the years, he made a trip up there every time he got a chance and enjoyed every minute of it. He passed this hobby on to his sons and made several trips with them until his health no longer allowed him to do so.

We will all miss him!

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00 on June 14, 2019 where he will be laid to rest with his wife Betty.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Pikes Peak Hospice or The National Federation for the Blind.

My sincere condolences. About 8 months ago I stopped by briefly. I used to work with your father he did my taxes and he and I discussed investments and he had an account with me briefly. Was always a character and loved his son who became a nurse. If you are out there God Bless and I really enjoyed your father!!!
