Obituary for Patricia Ann Echols

On December 11, 1939, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, a baby girl was born to Charles and Stella Ledman, whom they named Patricia Ann. They lived on a farm in Hillsboro, Wisconsin. Patricia was the third child in the family. She had an older brother, Ronald, and an older sister, Delores. Eight years later another sister, Mary, joined the family.

Patricia spent the first 10 years of her life enjoying farm life in Wisconsin. When she was 11 years old, her parents felt led by God to move the family to Colorado Springs, Colorado to enroll their children in a Christian school. She attended People's Bible College for several years and got a college degree.

She loved little ones and taught a Sunday School class of pre-school children and, later, was a teacher at a small Christian school in Pennsylvania for a couple of years.

One of her joys was to work with children, doing art projects, playing games with them or baking cookies. She also loved cake decorating and showed real artistic talent in many areas.

She worked for a time as a nurse in Penrose Hospital, caring for newborns, until she was married in 1976 to Daniel Echols.

To this union was born one son, Darrell Kenneth. During her married life, Patricia worked as a care provider for older people in their homes. Her love and compassion for them was outstanding.

Eventually, her health began to decline until she was forced to retire.

In the last few months of her life, her health deteriorated rapidly until she was no longer able to care for herself. She spent some time in the hospital and a few days in the nursing home but did not improve.

Patricia passed away on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020, just eleven days after her 81st birthday, with her son and grandson by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her older brother, Ronald.

She is survived by her son, Darrell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her grandson, Izaac, of Denver, Colorado; two sisters, Delores (Ledman) Kennedy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mary (Ledman) Echols of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia will be missed greatly, but we could not wish her back. She is at peace now with no more suffering.
