Patricia ("Pat") Ann Rupert Nanninga, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Bible Teacher passed away peacefully on August 31, 2020. She was 87 years old and died on what would have been her 68th wedding anniversary. She lived a long, Christ-filled life; full of love and devotion to God and her family.

Pat was born on July 7, 1933 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Arthur and Laveria Rupert. Pat's father was employed by the Gulf Oil Corp. and there were several moves to different locations while Pat was growing up. After settling in Russell, Kansas. during Pat's high school years, she then attended Kansas University where she met her future husband, Alan Richard Nanninga. They were married on August 31, 1952 in Russell, Kansas.

Pat and Alan had four children, Gayle, Mark, Mary and Anne, in the next several years. In 1963, they moved to Colorado Springs from Winfield, Kansas. and joined the congregation of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Alan continued work in the automobile industry while Pat was a full-time devoted mother. It was also at this time that Pat became a Bible study teacher and continued this personal calling for many years to come. Pat intently researched, studied and taught the whole discipline of the Holy Bible during her entire life. Her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the most important aspect of her life. She strived to spread the true Gospel and faithfully witnessed to her family and her church. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Church choir for over 50 years, as well as a member of the handbell choir.

Throughout her life, Pat also enjoyed needlework. Her meticulous skills included precise cross-stitch, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, sewing and crafting heirloom and legacy-worthy pieces. In 1996, Pat was specifically requested by The White House to custom design and stitch a Christmas tree stocking for that year's Christmas theme: The Nutcracker. She also belonged to the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America for many years.

Pat was also well known for her award-winning pie baking skills. Each Thursday evening, she would host a home cooked meal which many times included her famous pies for her entire extended family.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and her husband, Alan. Pat is survived by four children and their spouses: Gayle (Charlie) Mason, Mark Nanninga, Mary Presley, and Anne (Barry) Patterson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and spouses: Jill (Chad) Bowman, David (Chelsey) Mason, Sarah (Caleb) Reeder, Matthew (Brooke) Presley, Lauren (Beau) Kelly, Zach Nanninga, Kevin (Haillie) Patterson, and Hayley Patterson. Great-grandchildren include: Rachel, Lindsay, and Abbygayle Bowman, Jacob Mason, James Presley, Carson and Blake Kelly, and two more expected great-grandchildren this November.

A future Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. All are welcome to attend the service and honor this great woman’s life and legacy.
