Obituary for Richard Wayne Dunning

February 11, 1951 – December 26, 2020

Rick was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Rick passed away from a heart attack at the age of 69.

Rick was born to Gillotte and Juanita (Fought) Dunning on February 11, 1951 in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969. Rick attended Pikes Peak Community College for one year.
Rick worked at Dividend Gas, Portion Foods and Lloyd’s Carpet. He then worked for Hewlett Packard from 1973 – 2003 and then retired after 30 years.

On June 2, 1973 Rick married Patricia (Hahn) Dunning. They have two children, Heather and Kirkland.

He is survived by his wife Pat and his children, Heather (Dunning) Marshall (Randy), Kirkland Dunning (Brianne), two granddaughters, Kayla Marshall and Avery Dunning. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Dunning and niece Ricki Dunning, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Lora Hahn and several cousins.

Rick loved to watch all types of racing, NASCAR being his favorite. He attended the Pikes Peak Hill Climb for many years. He was also a HAM radio operator and that lead him to volunteering with the Colorado Hill Climb Association. Rick also enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, camping with the Colorado Cruisers and enjoying the outdoors.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
