Obituary for Ruth E. Baer

Ruth Eileen Baer (Matthies) age 89 passed away at a Memory Care Facility in Colorado Springs on October 28, 2021. Ruth was born in Burlington, Colorado on March 5, 1932, to Della and Paul. Her father preceded her in death when she was only 8 moths old. Ruth attended Burlington High School.
Ruth was very passionate about her work. She left Burlington in 1960 and came to Colorado Springs to put herself through beauty school. She started working at Hewlett Packard in 1965 and quickly became Proto Lab Supervisor. During that time, she opened her own beauty salon built on her house. She retired from HP after 25 years. Widowed in 1985, she became an active volunteer for Widowed Persons Service with AARP. She soon was the National Trainer for Grief Counselling. That is where she met and married Samuel E Baer. They were married 25 years before his passing.
Ruth enjoyed square dancing, fishing, sewing and being with family and grandchildren.
She was survived by three children Kristine, Gary and Jackie. Four grandchildren Jennifer, Jennaye, Jeremy and Nathan and several great grandchildren. Four sisters Bonnie, Linda, Peggy and Evelyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samual Baer, her mother Della Matthies and her sister Paulene.
