Ruth (Hougen) Osbourn passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 17, 2022.
Ruth was born on January 3, 1942, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 and attended local schools including Colorado Springs High School and Cheyenne Mountain High School – where she graduated in 1960. It was at Colorado Springs High School where she first met her husband, Ron. Ruth and Ron were married on August 3, 1961, in Colorado Springs and were married for 49 years before Ron’s passing in 2011.
Ruth moved several times during Ron’s career in the Navy and settled back home in Colorado Springs following his retirement. She worked as an Office Manager for Burson Chiropractic for 28 years before she retired as well. Ruth was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church serving on the Church Board for many years.
Ruth was happiest spending time with her family and friends, who she always welcomed with her beautiful smile and spirit. She enjoyed attending and supporting the numerous activities that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.
Ruth is survived by her son, Ron Jr. (Kim); daughter, Vicki Maketa (Terry); grandchildren, Katie Stephens (Scott) and Brian Maketa (Morgan); great-grandchildren: Chase, Tyler, Tessa, Remington and Halen; her nephews: Randy Hesselberg (Pam), Steve Hesselberg (Leanne), and Jeff Hesselberg (Angie) and their children.
The Memorial Service will be January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 1128 E. Boulder St., followed by a reception at the church.
