Obituary for Sam Francis Isaac

Sam Francis Isaac passed away at the age of 81 on July 8, 2022 from complications of a fall.

He was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs and spent his career in the grocery business, retiring as the Produce Manager of Fort Carson commissary. Sam never knew a stranger and was quick to make friends wherever he happened to be. He personified goodness in so many ways with generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness. He was a man of integrity and honesty and a person trusted by those who knew him best. His sense of humor was irreverent and will be missed.

As a long-standing Sertoma member and officer he donated thousands of hours for those in need. He volunteered for years at Sertoma’s bingo fundraisers, Elks activities and the Senior Center. His commitment to serving others extended directly to his friends and family and through his 60-year membership in Elks Lodge #309.

Sam enjoyed fishing, shopping at Costco, the Rockies and Broncos, getting together with friends and playing gin rummy with his brothers. A weekly highlight for him was having lunch with his buddies Gary and Don and their spouses.

For years, he traveled annually to Seattle to visit with Fred and Judy and take in the best of the Northwest – riding the ferries, visiting Victoria, the seafood and yes, more gin rummy.

He is survived by his brothers, Jim and Fred (Judy), nieces Susan Metzler (Jeff) and Margaret Isaac (Matt), nephews Tom (Kari), Barry and Michael Isaac (Megan), many great nieces and great nephews, and one great great niece. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Sam and Roberta Isaac and his sister-in-law Mary Tom Isaac.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at Elks #309, 3:00 pm on July 30.

Donations in Sam’s name may be made to BPO Elks #309 Building Fund, PO Box 7165, Colorado Springs 80933-7165.
