Obituary for Valdron Earl "Val" Wilson

Valdron E. Wilson, a long-time Colorado Springs resident, passed away on December 19, 2020 at the age of 72.

Val was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Vera White. He graduated from Palmer High School and joined the Army in 1968. In his military service, Val demonstrated bravery, sacrifice and honor as a Vietnam War veteran.

On July 21, 1973, Val married Pauline (Alexa) Wilson in Colorado Springs, Colorado and remained her dedicated partner throughout his life. He worked as a baker at several of the military bases in town, as well as many of the grocery stores and bakeries throughout his career. He was a hard-working man whose talents were regarded by many.

Grandpa Val was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He was incredibly supportive of not only members of his family, but also to the people in the community around him. He never left anywhere without making a friend. It was always known when he was at one of his grandkid’s baseball games, because he would be the one cheering and clapping the loudest, not only for his own grandkids, but for every kid on the field. He was a caring man and would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. Val always visited his mother and mother-in-law who shared a room in the retirement home and would volunteer to take grandma’s dog, Zeus, to get a hamburger. He was brave and adventurous and was a truly loving soul who was always smiling.

Val was preceded in death by his mother, Vera White; his son, Walter; and his grandchildren: Andrew, Laticia, and Kaile. He is survived by his wife Pauline (Alexa) Wilson; his children: Wayne (Cheri), Dewayne, Debbie, Ward (AiPing), Wade, Wanda (Frank), Wendy, Alex (Annie); his brothers, Harvey and Toby; his grandchildren: Timothy (Stephanie), Chris, Anjolie, Tyler, Cole, Brett, Megan (Jake), Dalton (Alexx), Abby, Katy, Beyelica (Stephen), Myranda and AJ and his great grandchildren: Amiah, Rheanna, Cooper, and River.
