William R. “Bill” Beach, 87, died peacefully on January 11, 2022, in Colorado Springs with family at his side.

Bill was born in 1934 in Florence, Colorado to James and Anna Beach. He attended Florence schools where he excelled playing on the baseball and football teams. In 1954, Bill entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ulm, Germany. After his discharge, he went to work for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company as a lineman. He retired from what was then U.S. West in 1998 after a 40-year career.

In 1960, Bill married Ruth Nadine Marks of Colorado Springs. They were married for 53 years, raising four children and living in Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Salida, and Canon City. Bill was a loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He greatly enjoyed time with family and friends, good food, great movies, and being continually aggravated by the inconsistent play of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He was known to all for being a most caring and generous person. Bill was a lifelong practicing Catholic and man of great faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Financial Secretary, Deputy Grand Knight, and Grand Knight.

He is survived by his son, William Beach; his daughters Christine Wheeler, Elizabeth Wageck (Donald), and Connie Schlarbaum (Robert); 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth; his parents Anna and James; his brothers Cliff and James; and his sisters Corrine, Bernice, and Joy. Services will be January 28 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 622 W 2nd St, Florence, Colorado. Visitation will be 9:20-10:20 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10:20 a.m. and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.

Bill was frequent and sought-after blood donor due to having a rare blood type. In lieu of flowers, we would invite everyone who is able to donate to your local blood bank in his honor during this time of critical need.
