Obituary for Olen James Ringler
Olen James Ringler, 100, of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 23, 2016,
due to complications of being one hundred years old. He would often say, “being
a hundred years old is not an easy job.”
Jim was born on a farm in Milo, North Dakota, where he lived until the family moved to
Limon, Colorado in 1923.
A few days after his 20th birthday, he received a call from a Mrs. Alexander of Colorado Springs,
wanting to know, if he would like a job working for her husband. He came to Colorado Springs for a
job interview at the Alexander Film Company at 10 a.m. that day and started work at 1 p.m.
Jim enjoyed a wonderful 50 year career with the Alexander Film Company as a Film Technician,
printing and editing a variety of commercials.
Jim married Lois Peats on January 6, 1945. They were married for 61 years. To this union three
children were born: Richard, Ronald and Sharon (Lynn Dougherty).
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, 6 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by
his children, a brother, Tim Ringler (Anne) of Michigan, 4 grandchildren and 4 great
grandchildren.
Jim’s family and friends remember him as a kind and loving person, always willing to lend a
helping hand. He leaves behind a legacy of being a “good man.”
The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness and care their dad
received during his stay at The Bridge Assisted Living Community. Also, a special thank you to Paula
Nietert with Encompass Home Health and to those at Century Hospice and Pikes Peak Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the First United Methodist Church, 420 N.
Nevada, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 or the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610
