Life Story for Earnestine L. Miles (Lewis)

Mrs. Earnestine Miles was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 12th, 1934, to her
Blessed and Proud Parents, Alberta Taylor and Willie Lewis.

Ol’ “Earnestine” was a hard-working, down to earth woman; grave, and wonderful person
to know. Those who knew her, loved her.

University Hospital co-workers, Charlotte Hetherly, grieves of her loss, but could only
remember the happy times they both shared in labor and delivery.

Zelda Cook, from Arlington, Texas, stating that, Earnestine was her “Best Friend”, and
rejoices in the precious times they shared together, “back in the day.”

Holding on to that friendship, even at the final hour, and very last minutes of her life, while
on the hospital bed at home, Earnestine rose her head up to say “Goodbye, Goodbye” to a very long
time friend, Ms. Zelda Cook.

Earnestine,...called and Loved by many of her High School friends, served on the Drill Team
at Douglass Senior High School, later on, Honored and chosen by the High School Football Team as
“Miss Trojan.”

After graduating from Douglass Senior High School, “Class of 52“, Earnestine makes a
clever decision to further her skills, and desire to pursue a Nursing Degree in Kansas City, MO,
where she met Willie Lee Moore Jr., and eventually transitioning to Los Angles, California.
From this union came Terry Moore and Michael Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Kim
Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Home maker in the day time, and at University Hospital, in labor and delivery at night;
her good friend Charlotte Hetherly, now in Wisconsin, called to say that they had great times
working together, and highly respected Earnestine, for all of the training she received from this
“special friend.”

Earnestine’s older friend, Mrs. Margaret Johnson; even at the age of 97, followed up with
her friendship, mentoring Earnestine along the way.

Knowing Earnestine Miles, was like knowing, up close, the “Mayor on the Block” (is what
her neighbors called her): Mark, Ms. Connie, Ms. Judy, Marie, Mike, George and Ms. Susan (retired
nurse), who also was right by her side in that final hour. Susan said, “Bye Earnestine, I’m going to miss you my friend.”

Many friends and fun memories of her Class Reunions, close ties with friends, gave her great
confidence, that she was well-Loved and Adored.

Those who went to school with her, loved her; those who worked with her, enjoyed her;
and those she gave birth to, and raised, FEARED her.

Earnestine, Mother of three; after retirement, reaches back to her “Childhood Sweetheart“,
moving on with her life, and meets up with Elvis Miles, Alpha Phi Alpha Frat Brother, joined in
Holy Matrimony on July 7th, 1987, and cherished those moments together in Colorado Springs,
Colorado.

Elvis, Fraternity Brother and Social Worker, served in the Army Military, in the United States of America. After he retired, he spent many more exciting years, of their 13 years married together with Earnestine, until his unfortunate demise.

Mrs. “Earnestine”, began drawing closer to the LORD GOD, and sought to fellowship at
Payne Chapel, where the people grew to Love her, and came to her side, after she suffered from a
stroke in 2005.

Very sharp, wise and organized woman; even until the very “day”, she new where everything
was; everything labeled, and well put together--

Now, in the latter end of April, meeting up with “health issues”, Earnestine’s health was
threatened greatly, and her neighbor Susan made it possible for her to get to the emergency room,
along with assistance. There she had to undergo a few surgeries, that would require acute Therapy,
and rehabilitation. During Earnestine’s rehab, it was discovered that her health was being challenged, once
again; requiring an extensive amount of tests; which concluded more surgery was necessary, with an
unsure outcome. Forced to make decisions that would ultimately change the course of her life,
Earnestine desired to be at home, with the memories of her husband Elvis, and the life she lived.

In her last moments, she called on the name of the Lord, “Jesus“; quoting Psalms 23 in her
sleep, “The LORD Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want”, and also a Scripture from John, knowing that
her time was near.

Three Days after being discharged from Memorial Hospital, Earnestine Miles suddenly
passed away, with many of her Family members by her side, giving a “Glorious” “HOME GOING“,
GOD RECEIVING her Spirit and RELEASING her soul to be with the LORD.
My Grandma Earnestine Miles got her House in ORDER, and went out in “Style.“

GLORY BE TO GOD!

Earnestine Lewis Miles, is survived by two daughters-Terry Moore and Kim Davis-one son
Michael Moore-15 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and good
friends.
