Life Story for James Edgar Polders

James Edgar Polders (Jim) of Colorado Springs passed away Saturday, July 16,
2016 at Sunny Vista Care Center. He was born on December 12, 1934 to Edgar
and Pearl (Morgan) Polders of Calhan, Colorado. He graduated from Alta Vista
High School in 1952, and then attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins
for two years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961, where he
completed Fleet Sonar Training and served in the Helicopter Antiā€Submarine
Squadron. Jim served aboard the USS Yorktown.
He married Barbara Mae Allen on February 22, 1961 in Chula Vista California. Jim
was initiated into local 113 IBEW in 1957, completing his apprenticeship in 1963.
He then served on the Colorado Springs IBEW Joint Apprenticeship and Training
Committee for approximately 27 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his parents; sisters Arlene
Wofford and Margaret Gray; a niece Brenda Gray Jackson; a great nephew Jesse
Gray. Jim is survived by his sister, Kathleen Minich of Olathe, Kansas; eight nieces
and nephews: Jennifer Wofford Self (Ron) of Hiawatha, Kansas; LuAnne Gray
Antonson (Keith) of Grand Junction, CO; Kris Gray Badje (Jason) of Hay Springs,
NE; Pamela Minich Eickhoff (Mark) of Boise, ID; Trisha Minich Beck (Travis) of
Overland Park, KS; Gary Minich of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous great nieces
and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Jim enjoyed the suppers and dances at the Holtwood Gun Club, fishing, camping,
building projects, golf and socializing with friends.
The family will receive friends at the Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs
from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 24 at 9:00 a.m. at Evergreen
Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
