Gloria Brenneman, California native and adored Colorado friend, passed away suddenly, Thursday, December 2, 2010. Gloria was born in Hollywood, California. Graduated from Hollywood High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Brenneman. She had two beautiful daughters, Julie Lacayo (Jorge) and Jodi Baccarini (Dan), whom she adored and loved beyond measure. Gloria was the #1 fan of her grandchildren: Jerry, Nick, and Teresa (Colorado) Daniel, Jimi, Catherine, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Matthew. Gloria passed away doing what she loved - attending a hockey practice with her granddaughter. In rain, snow, and blistering sun, Gram never missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite players and their teams, whether it was baseball, hockey, basketball, soccer or cheerfully spending week-long stints in a tent with her grandsons at Boy Scout camp. She was first to show up with cookies for the bake sale, volunteer kid shuffler, and loose-end knotter. Gloria was "Gram" to every child she met (and a few of their parents, too.) Gloria's many interests included gardening and quilting. She was a lifelong Girl Scout, member of Boy Scouts of America, National Catholic Committee Youth Ministry’s, National Charity League, Quilt Guild, Antiquarians, and Rosarians. She gave freely of herself to the youth in her community and many other organizations both in California and Colorado. Touching lives wherever she went, Gloria will be missed by her family and many friends who treasured and adored her. Not a day will go by that we will not smile and reflect on her seemingly endless love of others and how our lives were enriched simply by knowing her. We love you, Gram. Memorial services and a reception will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 2 El Pomar Rd., Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Gram Gloria Brenneman's name to your favorite charity.
